CULTR-WORLD

A multi-user VR experience and virtual storefront for a cutting-edge fashion label

CULTR-WORLD is metaverse experience and online shop for CULT&RAIN, a Web3 fashion label that rose to prominence in early 2022 after the release of a collection of ‘phygital’ products - collectible sneakers bought as NFTs that could be redeemed for physical products. The brand asked us to create two spaces: a lounge featuring a dance-floor and a live streamed DJ, and a shop featuring the NFTs with links to purchase or claim POAPs (proof-of-attendance protocol). The launch of the experience included a live event at Outernet London where the metaverse experiences were live-streamed on 70-foot displays and multiple VR-enabled stations.

As head designer and 3d developer on the project, I led a team of 3d artists and animators to build the experience from start to finish including architectural design and modeling, lighting and VFX, and avatar design. I also developed several features for a custom build of Mozilla Hubs to meet the unique demands of the event.

Custom Avatar Design

We developed four custom avatars for the CULTR-WORLD experience - each featuring different CULT&RAIN wearables and while representing unique personalities and interests.

Avatars are fully rigged and animated to work with both desktop/mobile controls and VR. Each features a custom dance move that autoplays when the user enters the Lounge’s dance floor.

 

Outernet London

The launch of CULTR-WORLD took place at a live event at Outernet London. Immersive displays, some measuring up to 70 feet wide, displayed a live feed of the metaverse party while real-life attendees could try out the virtual experience at one of several VR-enabled stations.
